Many of our task types (such as cloze matching, maths cloze (automarked), and text highlight) allow authors to set one or more correct answers that can be automarked.

To do this, when you’ve set up your task and available responses:

  • First, select your first correct answer under the Correct tab.

  • To set each alternate correct answer, select the + icon. This will add the tab: Alternate 1.

  • Select an alternate correct answer.

  • Select Match all possible responses (so that when automarking a learner’s response, it'll look across your correct response and all other alternate correct responses).

The picture below shows an alternate correct answer (Alternate 1) for a fill in the blanks cloze dropdown task:

Authors can set as many alternate correct answers as they like. If you need to set a large number, reach out to our team, there may be a different task type that could make this easier.

For a list of task types that can be automarked, see the list here: Automarked tasks.
